Double beds are smaller than queen sized bed, whose dimensions are 60''x80''. Thus, each person has about 30'' space at his disposal. Although, this space is less than a twin bed, it is large enough to accommodate two adults. Thus, if you are a couple with average built, you would probably go for a queen size bed. However, the problem with queen sized bed is that it may not fit in smaller bedrooms. And even if they do, they may not leave any free space to store anything else.
