Brazil’s mid-west is a broad flat plain, with a few highlands. The population is primarily ranchers, cowhands, and now, more and more commercial farms. Brasilia, the remarkable modernist capital erected nearly 50 years ago. A more natural destination is the Pantanal, an enormous wetland that often gets overlooked beside the Amazon. Pantanal offers incredible wildlife-viewing because it has thinner foliage than the Amazon you’ll have a better shot a sighting anacondas, jaguars, caiman, otters, birds, and anteaters.
