Solicitors are known (in England) for doing conveyancing, wills, probate and criminal work. In the US, solicitors do other tasks. A notice in one hotel in Boston said 'solicitors will be prosecuted'. In the UK, solicitors are usually thought of as dull and grey.

To become a solicitor: o Get a law degree - this exempts you from the Common Professional Examination (CPE) or Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL), provided certain subjects are covered. However don't think you're getting it easy. Many universities require candidates to pass the National Admissions Test for Law (LNAT) before becoming a law undergraduate.
